Match Report |
Caradon Ladies 4s travelled to Bodmin for the 2nd weekend in a row, this time to play Bodmin 3s. The 4s started off well with the young Bodmin keeper being bombarded by all the Caradon shots on goal but managing to keep them out. After 25 minutes, Shelley Lockett made a solo run towards the D and fired a powerful shot towards the Bodmin keeper, which went under her feet and into the goal. The keeper was as shocked as Caradon were with "Old Lady Lockett's" goal and play was stopped for several minutes. When play restarted, the 4s dominated and Bodmin could not break Caradon's defence. Half time came and the score was 1-0. The second half started and one minute later, Pippa Hedley had the ball in Bodmin's D, when what appeared to be the parting of the sea (of Bodmin defenders) resulted in her scoring Caradon's 2nd goal. Not to be outdone by her mum, Emma Hedley, scored 4 minutes later, taking the score to 3-0. An unusual mistake by the Caradon defence, resulted in a Bodmin goal on 51 minutes, but the 4s were undeterred and Sarah "Browner" Strevens put 2 more goals past the Bodmin keeper on 61 and 68 minutes. The latter coming from a well practised penalty corner. Browner couldn't get her hatrick, despite trying very hard and the match ended 5-1 to Caradon 4s. Player of the match went to Shelley Lockett. Thank you to all the 4s players and Thankyou to all of our travelling supporters, who cheered us on.
