Match Report |
Well, it didn't go quite according to plan today, as the 4s took on Falmouth 3s at Lux Park this cold Sunday morning. Last time they met it was a convincing win for Caradon, however on this occasion, what seemed like a completely different Falmouth team turned up and began by dominating the first half of the match, scoring their first goal within seconds of us starting. This completely threw the 4s and very soon they were 3-0 down. Falmouth were quick and skilful and despite the 4s best efforts, they were unable to stop them from putting 2 more goals away before half time came. A team talk was taken on board and the 4s began the second half with more determination and they had much more of the play in the Falmouth D, with numerous shots at goal, which unfortunately wouldn't go in! A contentious Penalty Flick was awarded to Falmouth, who converted to make the score 6-0. Caradon kept on fighting though and a minute later, a good pass from the Caradon defence into the Falmouth D, was picked up and teamwork between Tilly Scott and Lily Maudsley resulted in Tilly scoring her first ever Caradon goal, after playing up front for the first time! Caradon played their socks off for the rest of the match but in the dying moments of the game, Falmouth managed to put one more in leaving the final result 7-1 to Falmouth 3s, which means that Cardon 4s have now dropped to 5th in the table. Nominations for POM, were Anneliese Shannon, Lily Maudsley, Tilly Scott, Shelley Lockett but for her dogged determination in goal, player of the match went to Anna Gubbins.
