Caradon Ladies 4s travelled through Storm Arwen to play Duchy 2s at Pool Academy, Redruth this Saturday. The match was played in strong winds and freezing temperatures but this did nothing to stop both teams enthusiasm. Duchy took an early lead, after the Caradon defence were caught off guard, however this was the only time that Duchy would lead during the match, Caradon then netted two goals in quick succession coming from Sarah Strevens and Emma Hedley. Sarah Strevens then scoring her 2nd of the match before the half time whistle. The second half started and Duchy pulled back another goal, which was then countered by Strevens scoring her hatrick. Duchy were undeterred and levelled the score to 4-4. As the time ticked away, Duchy continued their attack on the Caradon goal but the Caradon defence team of Sasha Riddle. Rachel Quick, Josie Dudley, Shelley Lockett and keeper Anna Gubbins, kept the home team from scoring any more goals. With only minutes left of the match, the Caradon Midfielders and Forwards, Lily Maudsley, Erryn Lockett, Emma Hedley, Jo Maudsley, Sarah Strevens and Pippa Hedley, battled tirelessy in their opponents D and with some clever stick skills, Jo Maudsley scored Caradons 5 and final goal of the match. Caradon came away as 5-4 winners in a tough match, which could have gone either way.
