Match Report |
Caradon played a determined Bodmin side on Saturday. Both teams are doing well in Trelawney 1 with Bodmin in 3rd place just a point ahead of an unbeaten Caradon side. Caradon won an early penalty corner which had to be retaken for an early break by an opposition defender. The home side capitalised on the personnel advantage and took an early lead through Helen Manley, scoring a rebound from a penalty corner. Caradon had some lovely passing down the right through Kirsty Merrin and Nicola Batten, but Bodmin were not to be deterred and fought hard to bring the score to 1-1 before the half time whistle. The visitors were the first to score in the second half having previously had a flick saved in a great dive by goalkeeper, Lynn Oxenham. Caradon continued to battle hard, determined to continue their unbeaten run and were awarded a penalty corner for their efforts. Helen Manley smashed it goalward and Kirsty Merrin ensured it ended up in the back of the net. The game ended 2-2. Player of the match was Natalia Ridgers for her relentless battling in the midfield. Thank you to Jules Walsh and Luke Jeffery for umpiring and to the spectators. Next week, Caradon travel to top of the league Falmouth.
