Men's 1st XI Vs Plymouth Marjons 3

Caradon Mens 1st XI had a short jaunt across the Tamar to play Plymouth Marjon 3rds. With previous game running over both teams had a shortened warm up, but Caradon came out the stronger team with the better passages of play and Marjon struggling to get a foothold in the Cornish half. 

Despite Marjon’s valiant defending Caradon finally managed take the lead, Tom Rowe picking up a lifted ball from Luke Jeffery, switching the ball on to his reverse and slipping it back back the keeper who was scrambling across the goal. 

With the goal advantage Caradon continued to push, Matt Bell and Finn Andrews linked up through the middle giving Finn the space to get a shot away from the top of the D and give Caradon a two goal lead. Not satisfied Evan Spencer then picked up a loose ball and slammed a reverse home through a crowded D. The defensive unit all put in a shift with Henry Stephens having a stand out performance against his former club, ensuring Caradon finished the first half 3-0 up. 

In the second half Caradon once again started the stronger putting pressure on the Plymouth team’s goal with a ball falling Chris Fasey around the penalty spot who calmly lifted the back over the advancing keepers head. 

With a big lead and less than 20 minutes to go Caradon took their foot off the gas and the Marjon fight back began, scoring first from a short and then from a well put together series of passes. However just as it seemed they could bring the game back into reach, Luke Jeffery broke away down the right, isolated his marker, drove along the base line before flinging the ball across the face of goal, a waiting Chris Fasey dispatched the pass first time and secured the game with a 5-2 victory earn some well needed points.
