Match Report

Caradon Ladies 4s had an away trip to Kelly College, Tavistock to play Launceston  Ladies 1s, who were sitting just above them 3rd in the League. Just as the match started, so did the rain, but this did not deter either team. The score was still level at 0-0  with both teams defending their goals well. As the clock approched 29 minutes, Emma Hedley ran up the right wing, with the ball and passed it into the D, where Jo Maudsley picked it up and sent a shot past the Launceston Goalie, to put Caradon 4s 1-0 up. Play restarted and Caradon kept the ball in the Launceston half and with a minute left on the clock until half time, Jo Maudsley slotted home yet another goal for Caradon. The second half started and Caradon continued their attack on the Launceston goal and with 37 minutes gone, on the clock, Erryn Lockett, scored from another Emma Hedley cross into the D.  Caradon defence continued to keep any Launceston players from scoring and golaie Anna Gubbins, made some quick thinking saves to keep the Launceston score to zero. A goal line tussle, around the 57 minute mark at the Launceston end, cased some confucion for the home team, which provided Jo Maudsley the opportunity to make it a Hattrick, against her old club. At 4-0 up, the Caradon defence, consisiting of Shelley Lockett, Josie Dudley, Caroline Hambly, Sasha Riddle and Rachel Quick were not going to allow Launceston the opportunity to score. Some great Goalkeeping from Anna Gubbins, made sure that this did not happen and when the whistle blew at full time, Caradon 4s emerged the victorious winners, which in turn placed them 3rd in the league ahead of Launceston. Everyone in the Caradon Team played their best to ensure the victory was Caradons, but there could only be one Player of the match, which went to Jo Maudsley.
