Match Report | The ladies 3s were playing at home - Lux Park - this beautiful sunny Saturday morning against Newquay 2s. Due to the big 'C' playing its part once again, we only had 11 in our squad. But we were ready. We knew we had a good chance to win. Our captain - Katie - won the toss giving us pass back, and only to be acompanied by Newquay chosing to start the game on the side facing directly into the sun we were already winning. The starting whistle blew and we were on it. With some lovely play by our midfielders and some beautiful runs down the wing by Charlotte Reed we had started as we meant to go on - strong. It wasn't long before we had secured our lead with a lovely goal from Jayne Longrigg. The half time whistle blew. We were all knackered, but we were in the lead so we were not going to give that up. After a group chat, a well deserved drink (water only) and a good few oranges we were ready to go. We knew our linked passes had to be better in order to up our score line. It wasnt long before our lead was increased by a goal from Abi Largio. After much disbelief that she had actually scored an actual goal, we were 2-0 up! We had barely made it back to the half way line by the time our score was increased once again. After 2 lovely goals from our winger - charlotte - we ended the game as winners. Just what we needed to gain our confidence again. |
