Match Report | Caradon Men’s 1st XI hosted ISCA 3s at the weekend in what proved to be a feisty match. The game started under a lovely bit of Cornish sunshine, but Caradon struggled to get going after a poor warm up and nursing a couple injuries.
Sensing blood early ISCA pushed the attack and despite valiant defending conceded the first goal in open play. With the lead ISCA started to display some bad habits, on and off the ball, however they still managed to extend their lead with a short corner.
Their bad habit continued, starting to question and argue decisions. Seeing them faultier Caradon pressed the attack and off the back of strong plays David Fasey put home a worked short corner routine. Caradon we’re back in the game where as the Exeter team had a haze cloud their decisions.
Half time came and went and the second half was pretty level pegging, Exeter would have had the advantage if they could have kept all their players on the pitch, as it was, they gave away a number of silly fouls and chatting back to the umpires earning them time in the sin bin.
With the change of the wind came the hail, Caradon adapted better and continued to press the ISCA defence, narrowly missing out on drawing level through a back post tap in.
With minutes to go Caradon continued to attack, winning a short corner the keeper made the original save but Evan Spencer followed up and slotted the ball past the keeper. Both teams were level pegging and ISCA were on the back foot, however the clock beat Caradon and the game finished 2-2. |
