Match Report

Caradon earned a well deserved point against league leaders Duchy in a tense affair on Saturday. Caradon started strongly with their midfield working hard to soak up the Duchy pressure. Player of the match, Kirsty Merrin and Helen Manley linked up well down the right hand side with some neat skills and quick passing. Duchy were not to be deterred and played some quick switches around the back to spread the attack but Caradon held firm. Natalie Ridgers battled hard down the left, slowing down their winger and staying strong against the abrasive attack. Duchy grew in confidence through the half, winning several penalty corners. Amber Jeffery cleared one off the line in a thrilling end to the first half which ended 0-0. Caradon started the second half strongly, with Nicole Harding and Neve Hunn playing some quick balls through to Katie Fear, Laura Hill and Vanessa Scott who created plenty of penalty corners and were unlucky not to score. Helen Manley and Natalie Ridgers were unfortunate when their chances came off the posts. Duchy did not give up, earning some penalty corners towards the end of the 2nd half but the defence including Rachael Spencer and Claire Brown would not be broken. A special mention to stand in keeper, Emily Joyce from the 3rds who made some fantastic saves. The game ended 0-0 with Caradon continuing their unbeaten run to the start of the season
