Women's 1st XI Vs Tavistock 1

Caradon welcomed Tavistock to Lux park for their first home league game of the season. Confidence was high from last weeks comfortable win and Caradon started attacked right from the first whistle. Within the first 5 minutes Ellen Spencer drove down the left, into the circle beating several players before slotting past the keeper to give the home side an early lead. 
Caradon had the majority of possession, Claire Mitchell and Libby Walsh finding plenty of space in the middle of the park. Player of the match, Emma Gliddon, was bullish on the right had side and was the catalyst for many attacking phases. Despite Caradons dominance, Tavistock scored a well taken break away goal but this was soon cancelled out when Bizzie Dinnis scored right on the stroke of half time with a powerful reverse strike.

Tavistock started the second half with a new belief and Caradon began to loose their grip on the game. Passes became loose and Tavistock broke well with their pacy forward latching on to any through ball. Caradons keeper, Helen Dellbridge, made some outstanding saves but could do nothing about the goal that levelled the game. 
With the click ticking down, Caradon continued to push forward, forcing goal line saves and winning penalty corners. The umpires signalled 2 minutes and eventually Caradon scored the goal they deserved and claimed the 3 points when Amy Batty's accurate injection was classically dispatched by captain Clare Poad. 
Not the best performance and plenty to work on in the following weeks, but a good team spirit and pure determination to win will see this team continue to strive for the top end of the table.
