Match Report |
First game of the season saw Caradon Ladies 3’s head to the Dragon Centre to face Bodmin 1’s. Recently promoted into Trelawney 1 division the team knew they had to dig deep from the get go! And that they did. With equal possession, strong passes and positive driving play the 3’s aced their first game with a close 3-2 loss. Bryony Gubbins never faltered and zoomed about the pitch with stacks of energy, this was recognised by her team mates as she rightfully picked up Player of the Match. The home team collected their first goal from a powerful short corner strike. Caradon retaliated with an incredible reverse stick goal from Jo Maudsley. Shortly after Bodmin were awarded a penalty flick which found the back of Caradon net. Second half ended 2-1, it really was anyone’s game! At this point Caradon were missing a vital defending player who took a hard hit but the team reshuffled and kept up the pressure. Caradon’s defensive line and especially goalie Emily Joyce worked hard to ensure no out field goals passed them by. The third and final goal came from a short corner, 3-1. Caradon mid fielder player Charlotte Reid saw the perfect opportunity to score with only minutes remaining before the final whistle. New captain Katie Johnston was made up with the teams efforts, thanked both Junior players for their incredible input and said she looked forward to the season ahead. To all our hockey supporters we welcome you to Lux Park next week as the challenge is on - Caradon 3’s V Caradon 2’s!
