Men's 1st XI Vs Truro 3s - Cup Match

Caradon Mens 1st XI played their first game of the Cornwall County Cup against Truro 3s at the weekend. With Caradon the higher ranked team most expected a comfortable win, but off the back of a couple disappointing results nothing could be taken for granted. Despite coming out the stronger team it actually proved to be the Truro team that had the best of the chances in the opening exchanges. 

However the game swung strongly in Caradon’s favour after the captain, Chris Fasey, received a turn over ball in the opponent’s half, beat the remaining two defenders and wrong footed the keeper taking the lead. Not to be out done David Fasey soon added a second from a short corner, followed shortly by Tom Rowe finishing off a well worked routine down the right hand side, Chris then picked up his second for the game and Player of the match Finn Andrews scored the 6th. With that the home team went into half time 6-0 up and with the confidence to play their style of hockey. 

The second half continued like the first scorning a further 8 goals with the final totals being 1 goal a piece for Mike Parkinson, Tom Rowe and a p flick for Martin Batty. David and Finn both added another claiming 2 each and Chris Fasey bagging 7. 

The final score was 14-0 to Caradon, though the score line doesn’t cover the whole game, Truro kept battling till the final whistle and the defensive line of Nathan Jeffery, Daniel Harvey, Martin Batty and goal keeper Dan Harris were kept busy. Back to league hockey next week hosting ISCA at Lux Park.
