Match Report

Caradon travelled to Penzance on Saturday to play a warm up game for the second half of the season and won 5-3.

Penzance, who play in the league above Caradon, knew this would be a tough game as Caradon have been in good form and looked focused straight from the first whistle.

With a full squad available, Caradon looked strong in every position and it wasn't long before they took the lead. Returning player, Molly Walsh, deflected a penalty corner strike from skipper, Clare Poad, high into the net. This goal seemed to encourage Caradon and they continued to put together some lovely phases of play. Bizzie Dinnis collected the ball just inside the 25 and slipped to Poad. Saffie Cripps had  made a bursting run into the circle on the left, collected the pass in her stride and then fired home into the far corner.

Just before the half time break, Pz scored a break away goal when thier lone forward, Lind Webb,  beat her player and nutmegged the keeper.

With a brief 5 minute hail shower at half time, Caradon used thier time to reinforce thier game plan. To keep playing forward with meaning.

Molly Walsh capped a player of the match performance with her second soon into the second half before Dinnis scored the pick of the goals. A pacey solo effort from just inside the half way line and finishing from a tight angle.

Penzance capitalized on a substitution mix up and then a penalty flick after defender, Daisy Hunn, was adjudged to have deflected the ball off the goal line with her foot.

Caradon always looked comfortable with the defence looking organized and compact.

The result was put beyond doubt when Poad struck hard and low at another penalty corner.

Every player made a positive impact on the game, and the squad now look forward to the return of the league next week as they continue to  strive to be better with every game.
