Match Report | Caradon 2nd team played their first away fixture of the season, travelling over the water to take on Marjons 3 and hoping to capitalise on the confidence they’ve been gaining over the last couple of weeks. Marjons showed they were not going to make things easy and the first half became a frustrating battle of possession between the two teams, with Caradon coming out on top but failing to put the ball in the back of the net. Caradon started the second half with renewed drive and determination, which saw some fantastic passing across the pitch. A wide ball from Player of the Match Rachael Spencer to Leah Jones, saw Jones send the ball long and high, where Vanessa Scott chased it down to retrieve it on the baseline and slip it swiftly to the waiting Helen Manley, who sent it crashing into the far corner of the goal. With a goal under their belts, Caradon relaxed into the passing game they know they are capable of. Sadie Mullis caused havoc on the wing, winning a short corner which was expertly executed with a swift and accurate injection from Amy Batty straight to Clare Mitchell, whose shot flew past the flailing keeper and into the goal. Caradon can be delighted with their performance, proving that perseverance and team passing is the way forward. |
