Women's 3rd XI Vs Truro 2 (Cup)

Caradons 3’s played Truro 2’s in the quarter finals of the County Plate competition with a comfortable 9-0 win.

Jayne Longrigg opened the scoring with a strike from the top of the ‘D’ from a short corner within the first 5 minutes. The second goal came from left defender Amber Jeffery who skillfully drove through two players to slip the ball to Gemma Samuels who found Lauren Gerry unmarked to strike it past the keeper. From then on Caradon took control with Libby Walsh and Neve Hunn breaking down play in the centre midfield and defenders Shelley Lockett and Kerryn Walsh linking well to avoid any Truro attacks. With 5 minutes remaining of the first half a run down the right wing by speedy Emma Gliddon and an accurate pass to Gerry who sweeped the ball into the goal. After a positive half time team talk by Captain Nic Batten Caradon dominated from the whistle with Gliddon intercepting a loose ball, speeding down the pitch and passing to a waiting Hunn who slotted the ball away. Left winger Katie Fear used her speed and skill taking on several players to slot home goal number 5. Credit to Truro who never gave up and the couple of times they had shots on goal keep Emily Joyce had it covered to keep a clean sheet. The last ten minutes Caradon upped the pressure and saw a further 4 goals scored one from Gliddon and three from player of the match Longrigg. A great team performance and now we wait to see who we face in the plate semi finals.
