Match Report | Caradon 3's travelled to Penryn College to face Falmouth 2's in the County Cup group stage. Despite Caradon being set and ready to originally play on 26th October mother nature had other plans, heavy storms and a flooded pitch resulted in the match being postponed. So Caradon hung up their wet weather gear and waited for the reset date. Caradon ladies showed great determination, strength and resilience in this final game for 2019. Their opposition brought a young and experienced team who played some skilful hockey. Within the first ten minutes a scrappy goal passed the Caradon keeper, followed by a second crisp strike from a short corner. Caradon missed three of their regular players but Leah Rowe and Louise Jones stepped in to offer great support, slowing up any driving balls. Player of the match Jayne Longrigg added energy and enthusiasm as she encouraged other team mates to push forward. The Defensive line worked hard as they marked players tightly, with sticks to the floor and blocking many opportunities much to Falmouth's frustration. Left back, Amber Jeffery and centre back Sharon Jeffery were not intimidated by driving play as they coolly intercepted play from the danger zone and cleared to mid players. It may have been cold on the Penryn side-lines but this did not stop Caradon 3's top supporter Sarah Gliddon shouting words of encouragement. Falmouth keeper gave a miraculous save from an impressive strike from Jayne Longrigg. Falmouth managed to pinch a further three goals, ending in 5-0 victory which sadly did not reflect the even possession of this exhilarating match. Caradon 3's look forward to a well earned Christmas break, however will be keen to kick off 2020 back on the astro!
