Women's 3rd XI Vs Bodmin 2

With only three league games remaining Caradon 3's were keen not only to secure a win but finish with a clean sheet. With the help of their dedicated side line supporters they were able to achieve both. With the final whistle seeing them 10-0 up against Bodmin 2's, this surely was an exciting home game.

Caradon embraced an early advantage and seen their first goal by Jayne Longrigg within the first five minutes of play. This was soon followed by Longrigg second through a mighty straight strike. Caradon held tight to possession and acted quickly if Bodmin intercepted play.  Captain Nicola Batten marked tight their play maker to limit her opportunities, as the team knew from previous experience she was dangerous within their 25. 

After 25 minutes Lauren Gerry picked up the teams third goal then on average a goal followed every three minutes from Kirsty Merrin (2) Lauren Gerry and an impressive finish from centre back player Sharon Jeffery.  Much to Bodmin's disappointment they let in an own goal resulting in Caradon being 8 goals ahead.
 

Bodmin changed their tactics in the second half and loaded their defensive line which affectively slowed down Caradon scoring rate. Bodmin played some quick passes and did not tire, but Yellow shirts very much dominated play. Player of the match Shelley Lockett changed position in the second half and flew up the wing, making her presence known in the D. With joint POM Kerryn Merrin setting up several short corner opportunities with tactical play onto Bodmin players feet. 

Wing player Katie Fear worked hard throughout and was awarded a goal in the final five minutes, with one minute to spare Kerryn Merrin completed her hatrick.  The team celebrated on the final whistle after a tidy ten goal, clean sheet victory. All round great energy levels from this strong and defiant Caradon crew.
