Match Report | Caradon 3's travelled to Penryn College to face Camborne SoM 2's, thankfully with kind weather on side, a welcomed change from recent weeks. Fair to say Caradon underestimated the strength of this youthful and strong-willed side. Being 18 points ahead in Trelawney 2 Division Caradon were guilty in believing this was sure to be a comfortable win. A win it was, but it certainly was a testing match requiring 100% work rate from the entire Caradon team. It took the first ten minutes for Caradon players to settle, with wasted balls and simple errors. However this temporary wobble was soon set aside when Caradon striker Sarah Strevens found the back of the net with ease. Camborne retaliated with speedy passes and quick runs, a wrong decision made by Caradon left keeper Emily Joyce open with an attacking player driving down the mid. However she played it wise and with some quick thinking cut down the opponents options stopping the ball and kicking it out of play. A short while later Caradon were not as fortunate as Camborne picked up their first and only goal for the game. Mid player Abi Larigo with wing players worked hard in this fast and energetic game. The team was rewarded with three further satisfying goals from Jayne Longrigg, Libby Walsh and another from Sarah Strevens. With twenty minutes still remaining the team had no options of subs with two lamed players. Mid player Abi Larigo dropped to pivot position while other players reshaped to hold a strong core, again all demonstrating incredible energy and determination. Camborne were not deflated and barged down the middle only to find right back player Shelley Lockett ready to intercept any challenging play. Overall this was an exciting game, the team will have a well earned break next Saturday after several successful weeks.
