Caradon Go Top!!

Caradon 3 11 – 0 Truro 2

As weather conditions bought down tree’s and flooded the county roads, nothing could prevent Caradon 3’s making the journey south to Truro for the Trelawney League 2 fixture against bottom of the league Truro 2’s. The only game in the league not to be called off due to weather conditions.

Both teams came out in full force, despite weather conditions. In true Truro style they were quick to show Caradon what they were made off. Although bottom of the league, they were certainly not a team to be underestimated.

With key players missing Caradon took the opportunity to modify positions to utilise their player’s strengths and develop their structure. It wasn’t long before the goals started to come for Caradon, notably the first from Sarah Strevens reverse stick strike didn’t leave anyone in doubt Caradon were looking to secure a big win against Truro.

Vanessa Scott continued to add to her weekly goal tally, netting a hat trick of goals in under 15 minutes, taking Caradon’s lead to 4-0. Libby Walsh continued to create opportunities for Caradon’s strikers, with excellent runs down the wing, feeding the ball in to the ‘D’. The final goal before half time came from a goal line scuffle from Lauren Gerry.

The weather nor Caradon let off in the second half, and goals continued, with Vanessa securing a further two goals, followed by a further two from Lauren Gerry, chances coming from perfectly executed passes and teamwork from Natalie Ridgers, Izzy Hedley and Katie Fear.

Vanessa Scott’s final goal of the game, leaving her scoring 6 goals in total came from a short corner slip, passing the keeper and smashing in to the far side of the goal.

The score line finished 11 – O to Caradon with the game as started from a fantastic goal from Sarah Strevens fired in the very edge of the area, couldn’t be stopped. Caradon’s win put them top of the Table on goal difference. Tomorrow Caradon will face 4th place Bodmin 2 at The Dragon Centre.
