Women's 3rd XI Vs Plymouth University 2

Caradon travelled to Lipson in this week’s Trelawney Division 2 clash against a fit Plym Uni 2. Caradon took control of the first push back and drove forwards, achieving a couple of early strikes and were unfortunate not to convert.

Plym Uni retaliated play, driving balls through the middle of the field, quickly intercepted by Caradon’s Abi Larigo and Nicola Batten.

As play continued, both team fought tirelessly to keep possession of the ball. A scrappy goal line scuffle led to Plym Uni sneaking the ball across the back line to put them 1 nil up. Shortly before the half time whistle Plym Uni cemented their position by a swift deflection passed Caradon’s Keeper Anna Gubbins.

The second half play, Caradon returned in new formation, tactical changes saw Emma Gliddon flying on the wing closely supported by Libby Walsh providing numerous well placed balls in to the D. Plym Uni young side continued to press well and use space to gather momentum to attack Caradon’s goal. Caradon impressive defence, of Amber Jeffrey, Shelley Lockett and Sharon Jeffrey was impenetrable to a solid Plym Uni. 

A final short corner, beautifully converted by a strike from Vanessa Scott finalised the score line at 2-1 to home team Plym Uni 2. Leaving Caradon 3’s third in the table. Next week, Caradon will be entertaining second place St Austell on Saturday 19th October at Midday at Lux Park.
