Match Report | Caradon Ladies 2’s made the long trip to Penzance with a determination to improve on last week’s frustrating draw. They started the game brightly, with driving runs and solid tackles across the pitch. Striker Vanessa Scott got her first goal of the day inside 10 minutes with a sweet volley, then added a second shortly after. Penzance were awarded a Penalty Flick, which Captain Zoe Harris saved, only to be deemed to have moved too early and the flick was to be retaken. The Penzance forward made no mistake the second time around and made it 2-1. Caradon’s reply was to continue to pile on the pressure, with tireless running up the wings from Erryn Lockett and 2’s debutant Izzy Hedley. It was Hedley’s efforts that won multiple short corners, leading to a slick reverse stick strike from Ellen Spencer and a belter from Scott, securing a 4-1 lead at half time. Caradon kept up the relentless pressure in the second half, with Spencer getting her second and Scott adding a further 2 goals to her tally. Midfielder Saffy Cripps was rewarded for her darting runs after picking up a loose ball, driving the midfield and finishing from an acute angle to make it 8-1. Caradon’s final goal came from Lockett, who popped it in at the post from a rare short corner strike by defender Claire Brown. Caradon 2’s will be hoping to continue their goal scoring prowess tomorrow when they face Falmouth 2’s at Lux Park, 3pm. |
