Match Report | Caradon ladies 2s were looking to consolidate their position in Trelawney 1 and knew it would be a tough game against Newquay 2s who were only a point behind Caradon at the start of the day. Caradon started the game in a bit of a muddle, but soon found their feet to settle into the game. There were chances at both ends, but a minute before the end of the first half, Erryn Lockett pounced on a ball that had just been saved by the Newquay keeper to give the home side the lead going into the break. Caradon continued to press early in the second half and within a couple of minutes player of the match Saffy Cripps had found the back of the net to give Caradon a bit of breathing space. Caradon were now the dominant team, but a quick break by Newquay resulted in a penalty flick, with which they converted. Caradons defence of Leah Jones, Rach Spencer and Claire Brown held strong in the last quarter of the game and the home side were able to put the game to bed with two quick goals from Bryony Gubins and Vanessa Scott late on to seal a 4-1 victory. This result was Caradon 2s third win on the bounce and leaves them fourth in the table. Next up is an away trip to league leaders Camborne SOM. |
