Women's 2nd XI Vs Falmouth 2

Caradon 2s were looking to carry on their fine run of form in Trelawney 1 and travelled to Penryn to play a struggling Falmouth 2s having four of their main squad out for this game. 

Caradon started strong in the first half with great connective play from the whole team, which was rewarded with Caradons first goal. Saffy Cripps drove down the right wing and into the D scoring with her first strike.

With no Rach Spencer, Leah Jones slotted beautifully into the centre back position, with Kerryn Walsh doing a fine job filling in for Jones at left back, but midway through the first half during an attack from Falmouth, keeper Zoe Harris and Jones collided trying to stop the ball, resulting in Jones having to leave the field temporarily with a cut head. 

Caradon had to reshuffle their team, with Rach Luiten now becoming Caradons second centre back of the game and Nic Dymond dropping back to sweeper.

However, with all the changes, Caradon still maintained their structure, not allowing Falmouth a way through their defence.

The second half was much more eventful. A strong pass up the right wing by Claire Brown found the duo of Cripps and Vanessa Scott. Scott calmly put it away for Caradons second goal of the game and her second goal in two appearances for the 2s.

Caradon continued to press and were unlucky not to score a couple more, but with 10 minutes to go, they got caught on the break to set up a nervy end to the match. Caradon stayed strong until the final whistle with everyone digging in to ensure a 2-1 away win.

A special mention must go to Nat Ridgers, Jane Longrigg and Scott for again stepping up to the twos and putting in fine performances. Player of the match went to Cripps and the Oh Deer moment went to Harris for leaving one of her kickers at home!
