Match Report | After a fantastic result against Bodmin last weekend, Caradon 2s were eager to secure another three points in Trelawney 1, travelling down to Truro for their second away game in a row. After an early injury and some frantic play, Caradon settled into the game and began to play like a team with some lovely passing play from their defence and midfield, right through to their forwards of Jayne Longrigg, Charlotte Reed and Ellen Spencer. Caradon started to dominate possession, winning several short corners, but were finding it difficult to convert their hard work into goals. In a sudden turn of play, Truro made a dash up the pitch and managed to score past Emily Joyce, who was making her first start in goal for the 2s this season. Caradon regrouped at half time, finding it hard to understand how they weren't in fact winning this game. As the second half progressed, the team continued to work hard, making plenty of strong passes, with 'Player of the Match' Saffy Cripps showing plenty of drive and determination to win the ball back time after time in midfield. The team's efforts soon paid off, when after an early short corner strike, Ellen Spencer's second shot was deflected off a defenders stick to level the match. At 1-1 the tension began to rise and Truro became agitated, and after a minor disagreement, Nic Dymond picked up an unfortunate green card. But in true Caradon fashion, they continued to apply pressure and after a diving reverse from Reed to Longrigg, the ball was lifted over Truro's defence, where Spencer was waiting to score. A well deserved win, giving the 2s another hard fought win. Next up is a home game against OPMs. |
