Match Report |
Caradon Ladies 2s started their league campaign on a very soggy Saturday afternoon entertaining Marjons 3s. The visitors were well organised and strong on the ball, scoring a couple of early goals. Caradon settled into their recently restructured positions and despite many not having played together before, linked well and got their passing game flowing, with the Marjons keeper making multiple saves. Marjons then managed to score a third, leaving the Caradon players scratching their heads at half time as to how they were 3-0 down at the break. In the second half Saffy Cripps piled on the pressure in midfield, feeding Erryn Lockett, who went on to win a short corner. Unfortunately, Ellen Spencers power strike went wide, but the momentum was building and the home team ploughed on with the majority of the pressure. This was rewarded with more short corners, eventually Lockett playing the ball to Rachel Luiten, whose beautifully timed slip left, found Charlotte Reed low and poised, ready to sweep the ball into the back of the net. However, Marjons went on to score two more goals to finish the game as 5-1 winners. Although defeated on this occasion, the 2s have many positives to take from this game and plenty to build on for next weeks visit to Bodmin. The newly named 'Star of the Match' was a three way tie between Erryn Lockett, Marcia Burgess and Nic Dymond and the 'Oh Deer Moment' went to Charlotte Reed for being unable to stay on her feet!!
