Match Report | Caradon 3's started the new year with an impressive 9-0 win against duchy 2's at Pool Academy. This was the final game of the Cornwall cup group stage. This win will now secure Caradon 3's a place in the Plate quarter finals on 8th February. Caradon dominated play from the first whistle, with player of the match Jayne Longrigg sinking a hatrick in the first thirteen minutes of play. Shortly after mid player Libby Walsh found the back of Duchy net with pure style.
A further goal followed from Jayne Longrigg and a short corner slip pass to Katie Fear who swept in the sixth goal before the half time whistle. With an injured player and no sub option Caradon did not flag or falter - energy and enthusiasm was at an all time high.
Captain Nicola Batten switched up play in the second half and rotated players, proving they are versatile and equally strong in varied positions. Caradon continued to test Duchy keeper who at one point reached high to skilfully deflect a high speed ball sending it out of play and over the fence! A few challenges met Caradon backline but this was soon intercepted and sent back up the pitch to a receiving yellow shirt. A powerful reverse stick strike narrowly missed however Katie Fear, Jayne Longrigg and Sarah Strevens secured a further three goals before the final whistle. A great way to kick of 2020, keep up the good work ladies as you continue a full calendar of games. |
