Match Report | It was wetsuit and snorkel weather for Caradon Ladies 4’s when they played their first cup match at Pool Academy against Duchy 2 on Saturday. Caradon started off really well, with wave after wave of attacks on the Duchy goal, which were only repelled by their goalie. Duchy then got a break and managed to slot one past the Caradon defence and into the back of their net. This just added more fuel to the Caradon fire and with some excellent passing between the mid field of Izzy Hedley, Gemma Samuel, Neve Hunn, Maddie Gubbins and Sasha Riddle, they were able to get the ball to Katie Johnston and Nessa Scott, with Nessa slotting 4 goals past the Duchy goalie and Sasha Riddle adding to the scoreline with 1, before she went off injured after a nasty collision with a Duchy defender. The Caradon defence of Jeanette Turpin, Louise Jones, Rachel Quick and Shelley Lockett staved off any Duchy attack’s during the second half keeping them to a single goal. Shelley Lockett played a blinding game and also entertained players and spectators with some acrobatic displays. It was a very wet and cold match but the 4’s fully deserved their 5-1 win. Player of the match went to Neve Hunn and Banana went to Shelley Lockett for some lying down on the job ! |
