Match Report | Caradons Mens 3rds has a disappointing loss against Ashmoor on Saturday, with a result that didn't feel like a true reflection of the game. The visitors opened their tally early with two goals that seemed to catch the home team half asleep. Things looked bad for Caradon but these early goals woke them up as the team went about chasing down the deficit. Against the run of play Ashmoor extended their lead to three but soon after going Ted Dyer got the first for Caradon. Neither team could make any further headway in the first half and it was the home team who looked stronger in the second. Matt James was denied a goal when his shot found the post and bounced back into play. Caradon had no luck in their own end, after a penalty flick beat the keeper by the smallest of margins, deflecting off his stick into the goal. A uncharacteristic lacklustre kick by the Caradon keeper gifted Ashmoor another goal not long after and despite their best efforts Caradon just couldn't find the opposition goal. The 5-1 scoreline felt very harsh for a game in which Caradon 3's showed some true potential, moving the ball between players with confidence and pace. This is the hockey they need to concentrate on when they return to league hockey in the new year. |
