Match Report | Caradons mens 3s faced the might of Teign on Saturday, an unbeaten side that have scored over ten in most of their games so far and conceded very few. The home side had planned well for this and tried to "park the bus" to keep the visitors at bay, however they demonstrated clear gulf in the skill level between the two teams by managing to find a way through and net two goals in quick succession. Caradon were in it for the fight and displaying some great team battled their way into the Teign circle and bagged a goal of their own. I can't imagine Teign ever thought this would have been a possibility, which is a massive win for Caradon. Teign are not a side to be fased by this and continued their onslaught, Caradon played the best they have all season making repeated saves and last minute tackle to rob Teign of multiple chances, however for every 5 attempts on goal Caradon stopped Teign would score one. The second half followed a very similar pattern to the first, Teign with almost free reign were racking up an impressive score line. Caradon showed great tenacity, defending constantly and working to clear the ball as a team. The rather one-sided game finished 14-1, it was a fair reflection of the game but not a fair reflection of the herculean effort that Caradon 3rds put in. It was the best display of team work and fighting spirit shown by the Cornish side. The smiles on the faces of the team at the end of the game speak volumes about team and is the perfect embodiment of Caradons commitment to the sport and each other. |
