Match Report

A very windy and rainy day, saw East Devon D travel down to Liskeard for their game on Saturday and the conditions lcouldn't have been worse. Knowing that poor weather can be a good leveler Caradon were keen to make the most of things. East Devon started well but Caradon managed to turn this around and began an out of character long spell of possession. Again unusually they actually managed to convert this pressure, when a scramble in the East Devon circle came free to Ted Dyer unmarked on the far post who didn't miss this chance as he confidently slotted the ball home. The home side had taken the lead and now began to try and hold onto this lead. Things were going well until the Caradon keeper was caught a little of guard by a rocket of a shot smashed in at the near side post. The half time whistle blew almost straight after the restart giving both teams chance to regroup.

The captains half time talk focused on simple hockey as per training on Wednesday night, however at the restart the team talked was forgotten and Caradon were determined to make things difficult for themselves. East Devon made the most of this pinning Caradon back into their final quarter. East Devon always looked dangerous but the home defence were now in full flow, stopping anything moving towards the goal. Toby Riddle in goal was in fine form sliding through challenge after challenge, denying East Devon any further chances.

The game finished 1-1 giving Caradon their first league points. As competition for places in the thirds increases and everyone in the team improving, the captains job will become more difficult but hopefully will yield results.
