Match Report |
Caradons Mens 3rds started their inaugural season with a home game against OPM B's.
Starting the game with only 10 players but played well holding their own and even taking the game to the visitors driving well into their half. However it would be OPM's that scored first against the run play with speculative ball hit into the circle getting the smallest of touches past the home defence into the goal. The first half continued in this fashion with OPM's sneaking in another two before the half time whistle.
Caradon came out strong in the second half with some lovely passing play down the middle of the pitch and though Ollie Hedges, Matt Lampshire and Jamie Adams linked up well they couldn't find the goal. OPM's over loaded the Caradon defence, bagging one more from open play and another from a penalty flick. OPM's got one more when a shot bounced off the keepers glove and into the goal.
Caradon never gave up with Mark McCartney coming close to scoring and the teams perseverance paided off when Matt Lampshire scored from a penalty corner in the final seconds of the game.
Though they lost their first game the team was overwhelming positive throughout their game and have improved from their first two warm up games. If they can maintain their current work rate and positive attitude I'm sure it won't be long until they have their first league points.
