Match Report | Caradon continued thier push fo promotion with a comforable 5-0 win over Duchy on Saturday. In very wintery conditions, Caradon turned on the heat with an explosive start to the game. Quick passing between the midfielers, opened up the stuttering Duchy defence and chances on goal came hard and fast. Bizzie Dinnis claimed the first goal of the day when she deftly finished a good move on the left. Constant pressure and harrasment meant any Duchy possesion was turned over and Caradon reacted quickly to forge more attacks. Fleur Wordens' quick thinking found Charlie Harris who slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner to make it 2-0. Caradon were rampant and continued to pass the ball around at pace. Sadie Mullis and Carrina Hodge were finding plenty of space on the right and won numerous penalty corners. A deflected strike on goal was dissallowed but the score line was made 3-0 at the break when Clare Poad slid in to finish a move involving both Harris and Dinnis. The second half was more of the same, confidant Caradon play with Duchy hanging on. Player of the match, Beth Harris, was so dominant in midfield it left Caradons' defence as mere spectators for most of the match and there was never a doubt about Caradon keeping another clean sheet. With a reshuffle in personel, Mullis found herself more involved in goal mouth incidents and was rewarded when she deflected a Dinnis shot into the goal. Caradon continued to play some lovely attacking hockey, creating many good chances to improve their goal differance but it was Dinnis who grabbed the fith and final goal of the day when she topped off a superb performance when firing home a reverse hit shot. The team played some great hockey and sees them needing a win next week to secure 2nd spot and continue to push Penzance for the solitary promotion spot. |
