Match Report | Caradon put on a superb performance to beat Plym Valley 5-0. After last weeks rest, Caradon returned to thier league campaign when they entertained Plym valley at Lux Park. The team were keen to enforce thier dominance stright from the first whistle and did this within 15 seconds when they were awarded a penalty corner. After several quick passes between players in the circle, Amy Batty forced the ball over the line to take the lead. Caradon were ruthless and continued to pile on the pressure and within 10 minutes the score was doubled. Bizzie Dinnis found her strike partner Clare Poad who placed the ball past the lonely keeper. Plym valley were struggling to keep up with the interchanging passes of the home team. Carrina Hodge and Charlie Harris were finding good spaces and carved thier way forward, switching play and presenting good chances for the goal hungry forwards. Dinnis smashed home from an acute angle to grab her first of the day so it was a shock when Valley made rare punt forward and were awarded a penalty flick. Helen Delbridge made a great save and the celebration from her teammates proved how much they wanted to keep a clean sheet. Just before the half time whistle, Poad scored from a penaty corner, after the defenders failed to clear the goal bound shot. The half time talk was focused on delivering the same intensity of hockey, but rarely can any team give 70 minutes of complete hockey dominance and the visitors began to hold their own and create chances for themselves. Batty, Eldridge and Hunn dealt with most things that came thier way but it was Delbridge who was awarded the player of the match award after numerous great saves. Beth Harris and Sadie Mullis continued with great energy deep into the second half and it was Mullis's determination that led to a penalty flick being awarded to the home team this time, and Dinnis calmly beat the tall keeper by placing the ball low and to the right. As the final whistle came at the end of an enjoyable game, Caradon look to be in good form and now look forward to travelling to Duchy tomorrow (Saturday) |
