Match Report | A full strength Caradon squad travelled to Tavisock looking for a good response following last weeks dissapointing draw. Straight from the first whistle Caradon piled on the pressure and were making good ground into the home teams defensive quarter. Helen Manley was alowed plenty of space on the right hand side and it was from one of her attacking runs that led to the penalty corner that broke the deadlock. Clare Poad found the bottom corner with a trademark stop and strike and Caradon were now relaxed even more to play some great team hockey. Player of the match, Sadie Mullis, was in dazzling form and was rewarded with a goal after finishing a well worked penalty corner. Bizzie Dinnis with the assist. Midfielders Carrina Hodge and Katie Jones were in complete control in the center of the pitch and continued to push forward. Dinnis grabbed herself 2 goals before the half time break to add to her impressive goal tally with well taken strikes that left the keeper with no chance. The focus at the half time break was to continue to work on the shape of the team and to maintain discipline. With the whole team concentrating and keen to maintain a clean sheet, Amy Batty was cooly sweeping up any threats by the opposition, and together with Beth Harris layed the foundation for increased possesion and continued pressure towards the Tavistock goal. The final goal of the day was scored by Hodge, her first of the season. Fleur Worden sent a smart pass to Poad on the left, a quick pass to the top of the circle found Hodge whos' powerful shot deflected off a defenders stick to make the final score 5-0. A great team performance against a mid table Tavistock acts as a good confidance boost and should spur the cornish team on when they play the County cup quarter-final against Duchy this Saturday. |
