Match Report

Caradon dropped 2 vital points in their league campaign when they were held to a 2-2 draw at Okehampton.

The game started as expected, with Caradon dominating possesion and carving good chances at goal. Two consecutive penalty corners for the Cornish side saw the shot firstly hit the post and the second stopped on the line. This seemed to act like a switch for the Okehampton team and from that moment completly bossed the remaining of the first half. With thier powerfull play they forced numerous penalty corners, the first of them resulted in a penalty flick being awarded after a foot on the line. Despite Helen dellbridges' best efforts , the flick flew into the net to break the deadlock. The scoreline was soon 2-0 after another determined phase of play.

Caradon were down to 10 players just before the break when frustration got the better of Bizzie Dinnis and was offered a 5 miute rest by the umpire.

An honest half time talk addressed the poor performance of the team and foccused on what needed to be done in the second half to turn the result around.

A completely differant team seemed to be playing the second half. Energy levels were alot higher and there was much more commitment to win challenges. Player of the match, Charlie Harris was finding more space and linking well with her fellow midfielders resulting in more penalty corners. Captain, Clare Poad, gave the perfect ending to a well worked routine when finishing on her reverse after combining with Carrina Hodge.

Caradon were now in top gear and Okehampton were under real pressure. A Dinnis reverse shot could only be stopped by a body on the line and Dinnis executed the flick with a calm maturity to level the scores.

Caradon huffed and puffed but could not find the crucail winner. A game were the title contenders were simply not at thier best provided plenty of lessons to be learnt as they move on to the remaining games of the season. Tavistock, away, will prove the perfect game to make ammends and put thier title chances back on course.
