Match Report

Caradon restarted their league campaign with a 4-1 win over Tiverton White Eagles.

Keen to establish an early dominance, Caradon started well with good atacking phases of play. It wasn't until midway through the first half that the deadlock was eventually broken. A well worked penalty corner routine involving Beth Harris accurately injecting to Julia Eldridge who stick stopped perfectly for Bizzie Dinnis to drag flick low and hard to the bottom right hand corner.

White Eagles seemed to be spurred on by the goal and began to put considerable pressure on the home teams defence. Daisy Hunn was having a great game at right back, stopping numerous attacks and distibuting well after turning over possesion. Helen Dellbridge was called int action numerous times and made some crucail saves to get to the half time break with the score line 1-0 to Caradon.

With a slight change to the team shape in the second half, Caradon really started to dominate proceedings. Katie Jones and Sadie Mullis were enjoying a bit of space and were a constant threat. Shots on goal were plentifull, but the eagles 'keeper was having a great game making numerous outstanding saves. Caradon had to vary thier attack and good play between Fleur Worden and Beth Harris resulted in Clare Poad with only the keeper to beat. The ball found the back board and this gave the home team incentive to play with more confidance.

Player of the match Eldridge was relentless in her attacking runs on the right and Eagles were struggling to maintain the now rampant Caradon. Dinnis added to her goal tally with a clinical finish from a lifted ball and Poad made it 4-0 after another well worked penalty corner routine involving Amy Batty and Carrina Hodge.

With the game effectively won Caradon were focused on keeping a clean sheet. Dellbridge make a fantastic save of a penalty flick but could do nothing to prevent a good strike from the top of the circle on the final play of the match.

Caradon were far from thier best but showed good character to get the win and now look forward to next weeks visit to Okehampton.
