Match Report | Caradon travelled to Bude and picked up a valuable 3 points in their leaue campaign. The game was played in awfull conditions, with freezing rain and high winds making it hard work for both teams. Caradon battled hard and although they had plenty of possesion, failed to create many clear cut chances. The game was mainly being played down the center channel, and Caradons' wide players were struggling to get enough of the ball. Player of the match, Beth Harris, was having a great game and was influentual in starting attacking phases of play. Half chances at goal were well saved by the Budes' keeper and the half time score was a frustrating 0-0 With the empahasis on increasing the work rate of the ball, the second half saw Caradon starting to half good possesion in important areas of the pitch and were able to vary thier attack on goal. Left sided player, Fleur Worden, headed towards the goal in typical direct fashion and as her deflected shot looped over the keeper, it was right winger Helen Manley who was on hand to power home to break the deadlock. All Caradon had to do was hang on for ten minutes and the game would be thiers, but a defensive error allowed the home teams lone forward to equalise with three minutes to play. Determined not to settle for just a point Caradon threw everything forward and were awarded a penalty corner with only seconds on the clock. The injection went to Manley who manged to beat her player and get her shot away. With the ball seemingly trapped between keeper, defenders and desperate forwards it was Harris who stabbed it home much to the rejoice of the travelling supporters and her team mates. Caradon were deserved winners and can be proud of the way that they found a way to win in tricky circumstances. Another important match this week sees them take on third place Marjons at Lux Park 3pm. |
