Women's 1st XI Vs Duchy

Caradon entaertained league new comers, Duchy, and gave a good performance to come away with a 5-0 win.

With weather conditions best described as "wintery" Caradon began the game in determined fashion and straight from the first whistle began to stamp thier authority on the match. Midfielders were working together to turn over any possesion that Duchy managed and chances towards the visitors goal were starting to come thick and fast. Had it not been for some fine aves by the Duchy keeper, Caradon could have had a healthy lead but had to wait for the 25th  minute until a powerfull short corner strike from Bizzie Dinnis broke the deadlock.

Caradon were patient in their bulid up. Charlie Harris was finding more space in the middle of the pitch and creating wave after wave of attack. Sadie Mullis was seeing plenty of the ball on the right hand side and forced more penalty corners to be awarded. As the half time whistle came, a penalty corner was awarded and Mullis scrambled home to finish a well worked routine.

With the half time tactics ringing in thier ears, Caradon pushed forward from the restart and nearly scored within 10 seconds, but had to wait until the resulting penalty corner was swept home by injector, Amy Batty. Duchy now had a sinking feeling as the home team found their groove. Player of the match, Carrina Hodge, was instrumental in starting many attacks and Caradon were really starting to pass the ball around with ease. Mullis grabbed her second of the match when deflecting home a Dinnis pass and the score line was completed when captain, Clare poad, smashed one home from another penalty corner.

Caradon are playing some great team hockey at the moment and hope to continue thier good form when the travel to the north coast next week to take on Bude.
