Match Report | Caradon stormed to thier second win of the league campaign with a 7-1 win over Okehampton. The pace was fast, staright from the first whistle and Caradon gave the visitors little time to settle. Good pressure from the mid field forced mistakes at the back and the hungry forwards were quickest to react. Bizzie Dinnis was first to break the deadlock and start the goal fest with a fierce shot that looped over the line. Midfielder Charlie Harris showed her class when finishing a good move soon after. Okehampton scored from a break away attack but Caradon remained calm, knowing they had a far better game plan. Caradon were really starting to turn the screw, relentless phases of play from all areas of the pitch saw penalty corners being awarded. Captain, Clare Poad scored with a reverse hit at one of these corners and soon after latched on to a perfect Harris through ball to put the game effectively beyond reach. Dinnis scored her second shortly before the break to make the score 5-1. The team talk was focused on keeping the quality of play and staying focused on attackig hockey. Beth Harris was winning lots of turn over ball and with support from Carrina Hodge and Katie Jones formed a solid foundation for more attacking plays. Player of the match, Fleur Worden, was weaving her magic on the left and it was her threaded pass at another penalty corner that Poad finished in the bottom corner to increase the goal differance. Caradons defence had little to do for long periods of the game, but anything that came thier way was dealt with clinically. Goal keeper, Helen Dellbridge, had a good reaction save at head height but was rarely called into action. The score line was complete when Poad grabbed her fourth from yet anothr penalty corner and Caradon sit pretty at the top of the table after 2 games played. |
