Match Report

Caradon second team put in a workmanlike performance against neighbours Bodmin to run out 5-0 winners and ensure that the worst they could finish this season would be 8th place.  Thomas Rowe openned the scoring after just a couple of minutes as he latched onto a threw ball and calmly slotted past the advancing keeper.  It took 5 minutes for the lead to be extended, after a number of shots on target the ball fell to David Lockett near the penalty spot and he fired it into the far corner.  Jake Andrews then added a third when Bodmin failed to spot the award of the Caradon hit being given just outside the 23 and a quick hit into the D hit the keeper and fell to Andrews to place into the goal with the Bodmin defence caught static.  Then just before half time the game was put to bed as Neil Jones found himself in the right place as the rebound fell kindly to him and he fired into the roof of the net. The second half lost some of the intensity on display in the first half although Andrews did get his second of the match as a slick move that started from a sixteen hit out was worked into the goal with only 6 further touches of the ball to round off the best team goal of the day. Thomas Rowe was then unlucky to see his penalty flick acrobatically saved even though it was bound for the top right hand corner and after that the game pretty much faded away to leave Caradon comfortable winners.  Neil Jones was voted man of the match for his midfield display capped off with his 2nd goal of the season.
