Match Report

Caradon A recorded back to back wins for the first time this season with a 4-0 win over Ashmoor B at Lux Park.  With a number of senior players missing, Caradon were indebted to Joel Tamblyn and Neil Jones who stepped up from the third team and both put in stellar performances.  From the start Caradon were under significant pressure but the back line of Liam Champion, Tristan Young, David Lockett and Mike Parkinson held firm and prevented George Rowe from being seriously tested and as the half progressed Caradon started to show a threat of their own particularly with the pace of their counter attacks.  Have been unable to capitalise on a number of half chances it looked like the half was goiing to end goalless but Ben Reynolds had other ideas as he switched the ball onto his reverse side at the top of the D and placed a quick reverse hit just inside the left hand post to give Caradon a half time lead for only the third time this season.  Caradon maintained the same level on intensity in the second half and within 10 minutes had doubled their lead when Thomas Rowe was on hand to flick in a rebound, from Mike Parkinson original shot.  From the next short corner Mike Parkinson picked up the rebounding initial shot and fired goal bound only for the ball to thud into the defenders leg on the line.  Thomas Rowe calmly stepped up and dispatched the resulting penalty flick.  With just over 10 minutes remaining Caradon put the game beyond doubt as David Lockett was able to beat the keeper from a short corner and despite losing Mike Parkinson, to a green card for a couple of minutes, Caradon were able to see out the remaining time without any serious alarms despite also having no substitutes available to call upon.  This was the best performance of the season by a country mile with every single player putting in a shift against a talented Ashmoor team who had won the reverse fixture 5-3 before Chrsitmas but Thomas Rowe, playing a pivotal role in the centre of midfield, was almost unanimously voted man of the match.  Next up is a trip to 4th placed Torbay and with confidence now sky high anything is possible.
