Caradon claimed their second win of the season to move 4pts clear of the relegation zone. This game against Truro was the peverbial 6 pointer with one team able to lift themselves clear of the relegation battle. For once Caradon started positively and were ahead within 5 minutes. Tristan Young pick up an attempted clearance on the Truro 23 yard line and drove towards the D. Having been channelled onto his reverse stick side it looked like the treat had been neutralised but from a tightish angle Young let rip with a flat reverse stick that sent the ball crashing through a crowd of players and inside the near post for what was probably the goal of the season so far. Caradon kept powering forward in search of a second and with their second short corner the lead was double by a decent strike from Captain David Lockett. Caradon wasted further opportunities in the last 15 minutes of the half as individuals seemed hell bent on scoring the wonder goal to put the first one in the shade. A half time team talk emphasised the need to utilise the ball speed and make use of the open spaces seemed to make a difference as the Truro defensive line started to get stretched. It took 15 minutes for Caradon to extend their lead when Mike Parkinson played a quick ball down the middle to Lockett who turned to find himself one on one with the last defender. Playing the ball around the defenders left hand side and ducking past his right hand side Lockett was able to fire past the keeper from the top of the D. Truro were now starting to tire significantly and Jake Andrews was on hand to get the perfect poachers goal from a couple of yards out after the ball was worked out from the back down the right hand side and then the powerful hit in from the baseline ricocheted to where Andrews was loitering for a straightforward tap in. Lockett then completed his hat trick with another short corner and finally Andrew's repeated his trick of tapping in from a couple of yards out to add the gloss to a very decent team effort. Tristan Young was voted man of the match for his wonder goal and quality distribution from the back. Caradon now have a month off to recharge the batteries before a visit by table topping PGSOBs on 11 January.
