Match Report |
Availabilities again had a big impact on the 2nd team with 5 players unavailable and another requisitioned by the 1st team. OPMs were near the top of the table and so to arrive with only 11 players was far from ideal. Caradon held their on for the first 15 minutes but a mishit clearance by Lockett invited an overloaded attack and OPMs made no mistake in taking the lead. This Caradon team pride themselves in playing the game in the right spirit and in an honest fashion so OPMs second goal was disappointing as the young OPM forward with the goal at his mercy missed with his stick but the ball diverted off his foot into the goal. With the umpire's view obscured the young forward sheepishly accepted the goal to see OPMs take a 2 goal lead into half time - an action not encouraged in the Caradon 2nd team. In an even second half Caradon were unable to fashion any guilt edge chances whilst OPMs were more clinical in attack. They could have scored more goals but George Rowe in goal pulled off a number of quality saves to keep the scoreline respectible. Although OPMs scored twice more Caradon kept working and should go into the final game before Christmas, next weekend, confident that they can get a result against a Truro B team that are below them in the table.
