A weakened Caradon A were well beaten by Plymouth University A who have yet to lose a hockey match this season. Caradon held of wave after wave of attacks from the students and even forced a short corner in the first 20 minutes. Eventually however the dam burst and two further goals were added before half time by way of short corners. The second half followed a similar pattern and eventually more goals followed but the young Caradon side never gave up as they made the students work for every opportunity as they eventually ran out 6-0 winners. These two teams were playing two divisions apart last season and how Caradon get on this season will not be defined by these sorts of fixtures. The visit of Bodmin next weekend on the other hand could be a defining fixture and it is hoped a full strength team will be available.
