With the start delayed to make this a 1730 start it appeared that this was after the bedtime for most of the team as they made a very sluggish start. Whilst you can get away with that against a team at the lower end of the table you wont have the same fortunes against a team like Ashmoor that will be pushing for promotion and so it came to pass that within a blink of an eye Caradon were 3-0 down. Caradon slowly woke from their slumber and by the mid point of the half were at least starting to compete for the ball. Just before half time Ashmoor were rightly awarded a penalty flick for a defender stopping the ball on the line with his leg and so the half time score of 4-0 meant Caradon had a mountain to climb. A little bit of restructuring to fill the hole in midfield and Caradon went after the game in the second half. Within five minutes the got there due reward as a ball fired in from the 23 towards the far post was deflected in by a diving Paul Hunt. Caradon pulled another one back soon after as David Lockett fired in there one and only short corner. Caradon continued to press but an Ashmoor break saw a mishit shot wrong foot George Rowe in goal and just make in over the goal line. Caradon kept going and were soon rewarded with another goal as Paul Hunt fired in from the right hand side and Jake Andrews was on hand to srike it past the goalkeeper to reduce the deficit to two. Although Caradon continued to push for the remaining 15 minutes they could not get another to set up a grandstand finish but they should be proud of the way they reacted to their first half display. This Saturday they host Torbay with a 1-30pm push back.
