Two ten minute spells in either half ultimately meant Caradon Men Second Team left Plymouth empty handed in their first game in South West One after promotion last season. After an even first 5 minutes Caradon seemed to loose their shape completely and PGSOBs capitalised with a well taken goal and could easily have added to it only for some last ditch defending from Mike Parkinson and Rapper Tamblin kept Caradon in the contest. At the mid point of the half Caradon started to regain some composure and look more threatening going forward. A break by David Lockett down the right enabled him to fire the ball towards the penalty spot and Jake Andrews was perfectly placed to fire home. A couple of minutes later Caradon had their first short corner and although the strike on goal lacked powere it still crept in at the near post. The lead did not last long as the Plymouth based team broke down the right and from just inside the D the cross was cruelly deflected into the goal by the unfortunate WIll Turpin. Caradon were back on the front foot early in the second half and Jake Andrews restored the lead as the ball was worked into him from the left and he maintained his composure to slot home. There then followed the second ten minute spell in which Caradon switched off; firstly PGSOB worked the ball in down the left and slotted home the equaliser then a couple of minutes later a free hit on the edge of the D was driven striaght into and hit onto a foot. Although the ball hadn't gone the necessary 5 metres a short was awarded and having dealt effectively with 3 earlier ones this one was squeezed home. Although Caradon pressed for an equaliser they were unable to convert a couple of half chances as the PGSOB defended stoutly. Next up will be the visit of Tavstock to Lux Park with a 1-30pm start.
