Match Report | Congratulations to Caradon Ladies third team who made it to Cornwall Plate Finals Day on Saturday 13th. The team worked hard to reach this point and deserved to be recognised as finalists in this county championship. In true Caradon style many players and supporters from the club joined the 3's to cheer them on at the side lines of Penzance pitch. Despite being in the league above Caradon clearly rustled Falmouth 2’s as they came out guns blazing. Libby Walsh drove the line and found Ellen Spencer who popped in the perfect early goal. Sarah Strevens nearly made it a second with a short corner strike that went slightly wide. Mid players did not lose energy and the juniors stood strong as Falmouth became ever more frustrated! Falmouth picked up an equalising goal and Caradon reminded each other to settle as the heat was turned up. Emily Joyce and the defending line worked fearlessly throughout. A controversial goal came minutes ahead of the final whistle, ending 2-1 to Falmouth. Captain, Nicola Batten and Coach, Clare Poad were immensely proud of the team's determination, as every player stepped up to the challenge. This match was truly exhilarating to watch as both teams fought hard with equal possession - Caradon may have narrowly missed the plate trophy but no doubt the Mighty 3's will be hot contenders again next season. |
