Match Report

It was a well fought and exciting semi final for Caradon, resulting in the ladies 3's winning 2 - 1 against Newquay 2's.

Literally every player battled tirelessly, staying strong and focussed from the get-go to the final whistle.

The fact their opponents were a league above did not faze the Caradon players.  This just added grit and determination to work hard and make it to Penzance finals.

An early goal from Ellen Spencer gave Caradon a boast but they knew not to be complacent with this narrow lead.  The half time talk focussed on staying strong as they knew Newquay would come out fighting in the second half.

The defensive team held strong, with a cracking short corner save by Amber Jeffery.  Tania Spicer moved the ball up the field with great pace, aside centre back player Sharon Jeffery who simply did not let anything pass her by.

Players navigated the ball through foggy conditions, home supporters were drowned out in the mist but their cheers certainly weren't when Caradon picked up their second goal.  A nice one two pass from Jayne Longrigg (Player of the Match) to Ellen Spencer who was perfectly positioned to pop it past Newquay keeper.

A short corner seen Newquay successfully straight strike. At this point the fog density and match intensity really was quite exhilerating!

Mid players Emma Gliddon (Also joint Player of the Match) alongside Abi Larigo gave a remarkable effort, not flagging or easing up at any point.

Caradon gave out big cheers as the final whistle blew.  This will now see Caradon 3's playing Falmouth 2's in the Plate Final on Saturday 13th April.
