Match Report |
With neither side able to progress from a strong group this was treated as a useful warm up to the second half of the league season against a team for the division above. After a sluggish start Caradon were soon behind as they were made to pay for a failure to clear their lines which gave the Truro forward the time to strike successfully on goal. This acted as the wake up call required and slowly Caradon started to impose themselves on the game and win more of the 50/50 ball. After 20 minutes a miss hit should from David Lockett was quickly ceased upon by Paul Hunt who drilled the ball home. Five minutes later Thomas Rowe put Caradon in front for the first with a good shot from the left side of the D beat the keeper and that was the end of the scoring in the first half. Caradon dominated the early part of the second half and increased their lead from their first short corner as Lockett drilled the ball into the centre of the goal. From this point on the game became more open as each team traded short corners, Caradon also hit the post twice through Harrison Pollard and Jake Andrews whilst the defence stood strong and allowed Truro only one shot on target, from their short corners, which was easily saved. The final score of 3-1 was a good way to start the new year and should set the team up for an important visit to Okehampton when they will be at full strength for the first time this season in a game that will go a long way to deciding how the promotion campaign will pan out.
