Match Report | First match for 2019 and Caradon Ladies 3’s started the new year with a well deserved win. St.Austell played a quick ball in the first five minutes of the whistle and drove strongly down the middle. Caradon goalie was unable to keep out their powerful strike on goal. Caradon players learnt from this costly error so marked more tightly and worked hard to track back when needed. With great focus Caradon came back with a goal in the first half. A powerful cross from Ellen Spencer to Leah Strevens who was positioned perfectly by the post. Despite a festive season of minced pies, mulled wine and chocolate Caradon’s held form and played with determination and strength until the final whistle. The home supporters offered great support and praised wing players Emma Gliddon and Libby Walsh. Rightly deserved for great pressure and fearlesss tackles Kerry Walsh picked up player of the match. Caradon were awarded several short corners, credit to St.Austell keeper and defensive team as it proved a challenge to pass them. That was until the second half when injector Abi Larigo passed a strong ball top of the D to Ellen Spencer who had a successful strike on goal.. This crisp January game ended 2-1 to Caradon. The ladies now go through to the Cornwall Plate semi finals in February for no doubt another thrilling game.
